Scholarship application opens: September 1, 2024

Scholarship application deadline: May 1, 2025

Eligibility: Applicants to the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Scholarship must:

  • Be a full-time female student currently attending a college or university in Jamaica, West Indies.

  • Have a current grade point average of 3.0 (or equivalent).  

  • Have maintained a GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) during the past two semesters while attending a college or university in Jamaica, West Indies.

  • Show financial need by providing annual household income statement. 

  • Provide their most recent college or university transcripts. This transcript should also display the previous two semesters and the official seal from your college or university.

  • Provide a minimum of one professional recommendation (e.g., professor, school counselor, or administrator).

  • Provide a one-page typed paper detailing your goals and how the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Scholarship can help you achieve them and have a positive effect on your community.

Scholarship Award Amount:  USD$500.00

The scholarship award recipient will be notified no later than June 1, 2025, and an announcement will be posted on the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Corporation website.

Please read all instructions carefully before completing this application. Do not complete the application before you submit ALL document’s listed below. Applications submitted prior to providing the document’s listed below will result in disqualification. Please email the requested documents listed below to kayonjoyofeducation@gmail.com.

  • Most recent college or university transcripts. This transcript should also display the previous two semesters and the official seal from your college or university.

  • A letter of recommendation from at least one college or university professional (e.g., professor, school counselor, or administrator).

  • One-page typed essay describing your goals and how the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Scholarship can help you achieve them and have a positive effect on your community.

All professional and non-family letters of recommendation must contain the email address and phone number of the individual writing it. Your application packet must be received by May 1, 2025.

NOTE:  It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit a complete application packet.  The Scholarship Committee will not assume responsibility for and will not attempt to compile materials submitted separately.  An incomplete packet will result in disqualification.  The application and all attachments become the property of Kayon Joy Lindsay Joy of Education Corporation and will be kept strictly confidential.  The scholarship award recipient will be notified no later than June 1, 2025, and an announcement will be posted on the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Corporation website.
