The mission of the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Corporation is to carry on Mrs. Lindsay-Scott’s lifelong passion for education. Mrs. Lindsay-Scott understood the value of education. Throughout her teaching career, she demonstrated how education could be utilized as a tool to open doors to a brighter future for individuals and communities alike. Mrs. Lindsay-Scott believed that everyone, regardless of race, economic status, sex or religion should have the opportunity to receive a quality education. As an educator in Jamaica, North Carolina, Kuwait, and Georgia, Mrs. Lindsay-Scott placed a high premium on education to everyone she taught.
At the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Corporation, we hold education in the same high regards and view education as a pathway to success for all as did Mrs. Lindsay-Scott. We demonstrate this by providing scholarships to current female students enrolled full time in a college or university in Jamaica, West Indies.
Scholarship candidates must meet certain criteria including proven financial need, academic prowess in high school education and active participation in community affairs. Most preferably, they should also reflect Mrs. Lindsay-Scott’s values of commitment to excellence through active involvement in education and the community. Each candidate should have a positive attitude, empathy, and leadership skills. By giving back through scholarships, the Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott Joy of Education Corporation hopes to help grow the next generation of educators to carry on the legacy of Mrs. Kayon Joy Lindsay-Scott.
